Maria Pia De Vito ‘s new project and new record for Parco della Musica Records features a brand new quintet. After “A Still Volcano Life,” from 2022 focused on women’s creativity with Rita Marcotulli and Luca Aquino, this work, based on original compositions by De Vito and Bortone, collective compositions and rereadings of songs from various sources, from jazz by Tony Williams, Ornette Coleman to the songwriting of Elvis Costello e Kate Bush, to elements of English and American folk, offers a reflection on the condition of women and the survival strategies women have been employing for centuries now. Inspiration for the texts comes from authors such as Virginia Woolf, Rebecca Solnit, and Margaret Atwood. A project with a lineup of unique and innovative talents.
