Passion and emotion, then, are the means by which the jazz musician approaches these immortal airs and does so with deep respect for the beauty of the originals, reinterpreting them in a rich and very pure jazz language. On the disc we find sublime interpretations of Puccini, Gershwin, Schumann, Bernstein, Bizet and Mascagni. In Rea‘s performance, all played out in the relationship between intimate form and free interpretation, there are at the same time some forays into worlds other than the classical one.
