Home Productions Music for a Mindless Society Vol. II
Parco della Musica Records presents “Music for a Mindless Society Vol. II,” the second chapter of the two-volume recording project by the volcanic Mauro Ottolini and his Sousaphonix lineup, which also includes a cartoon and a 45-minute documentary film.
Ottolini ‘s project is the result of an intense and passionate work of research and contamination between popular music, jazz music and original pieces, which started from a time-faded photograph of an orchestra that really existed and was born in Trentino in 1921: “Orchestra of the Mindless Society.” Original songs sung in 12 languages, folk atmospheres, jazz, improvisation and contemporary music meet on the album.
The Sousaphonix open themselves for this project to the sounds of the world, using instruments from other musical traditions, shells, bamboo saxophones, shinobue flutes, Pinuccio Sciola‘s “sound stones,” and Mondo Usai’s Sardinian craft instruments.
