Parco della Musica Record presents “Maps,” the new album by Double Cut, a project by jazz musicians Tino Tracanna, Massimiliano Milesi, Giulio Corini and Filippo Sala. The title embodies Double Cut ‘s vocation of experimentation and research in different musical territories. Their careful mapping allows the four jazz musicians to engage with highly stimulating musical ecosystems. If the debut album experimented with the potential of the unusual ensemble, this new work represents its fulfillment, through the consolidation of a wholly original sound and the development of a richer and more complex compositional identity.
In this second installment, the lineup presents the results of four years of exploration in the many lands of jazz music through nine compositions (eight original pieces and a reinterpretation of “The Train and The River” by Jimmy Giuffre) that, like maps for navigators of the past, chart its course. A path that seeks new polarities in the stormy and confusing sea of contemporary jazz. The “maps” unfold through a series of songs that take their cues from a variety of suggestions: revisitations of contemporary geniuses, irreverent twists as well as persuasive melodies, soulful anthems and violent sound explosions.
