Home Productions Leonard Bernstein Tribute
Gabriele Coen‘s new quintet, after recent tributes to Kurt Weill and John Zorn, presents “Leonard Bernstein Tribute,” a highly original tribute to the great American composer, pianist, conductor and teacher, one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century.
From the best-known songs of “West Side Story” (1957), including “Maria,” “Tonight” and “Somewhere,” to the lesser-known Hebrew-inspired production, “Ilana the Dreamer,” “Yigdal” and “Chichester Psalms.” Thanks also to Andrea Avena‘s arrangements, respect and admiration for Leonard Bernstein ‘s music are combined with the language of improvisation proper to jazz music, in an unprecedented encounter that aims to rediscover the relevance of these immortal compositions.
In 2017 also for Parco della Musica Records was released “Sephirot. Kabbalah in Music” where Gabriele Coen conducts his sextet between electricity and spiritualism.
