Ambrogio Sparagna ‘s work has always placed itself vividly and topically within the great heritage of our traditional music, combining the rigor of field research with the freshness and musicality of the OPI Orchestra Popolare Italiana of the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. This work repurposes and revisits in a continuous sonic feast (and outside of any academic mannerism) sounds and rhythms that have always belonged to the culture of our land. In this context of absolute contemporaneity, the extraordinary participation of Francesco De Gregori, who has often approached the suggestions of Italian popular music in his artistic career, should come as no surprise. The singer-songwriterpresents some of his best and least known songs and duets with Sparagna at times. To reiterate its character as an open project, “Vola Vola Vola” also features the incredible voice of Maria Nazionale, the Amarcanto and the Popular Choir directed by Annarita Colaianni.
