Home Productions D’Amour
Raffaele Casarano and Mirko Signorile, two artists who have already collaborated with Parco della Musica Records by releasing two records together with the Puglia Jazz Factory quintet, are offering a new duo project, this time dedicated to French music: “D’Amour.” L’Amour entre autres choses. In France they say that everything ends in song. In the 20th century many great French artists, from Gainsbourg to Aznavour, from Ferré to Piaf, have left a piece of the puzzle that is the history of France, the inspiration for many Italian songwriters. To these anarchists, existentialists, and intellectuals Raffaele Casarano and Mirko Signorile dedicate their notes in free and wide-ranging rereadings/revocations that are meant to be a way to reactualize content that is always “alive.”
With this album, the jazz duo trespasses into many spheres, returning to weave music that is dense with narratives and nuances, melodic and rich with innovative sound textures, capable of giving more sap and creative space to the difficult stylistic figuration of the classic jazz duo. After years of collaboration in the Locomotive quartet, the two are now moving on perfect and effective balances and with a deep musical understanding that knows almost no comparison, so much so that this small lineup is one of the most beloved and sought-after in Italy. Their music retraces and emphasizes the profound poetics already encountered in previous projects by working around a sound fabric made of shadows, chiaroscuro, pauses, dream atmospheres, capable of creating an intimate and domestic dimension, an ideal south that remains in the background and occasionally returns to be the absolute protagonist. Indefinable tunefulness and simple music that meets the emotional beauty of journeys made of notes that leave their mark. Light journeys imbued with feeling and characterized by curiosity to explore new languages and new ideas.
