Parco della Musica Records presents “Il Commissario Montalbano. Music composed orchestrated and directed by Franco Piesanti,” a triple box set containing all the soundtracks written by Franco Piersanti for the well-known television series. In addition to the historical reissue compositions contained on the first two discs, the box set also contains an album of previously unreleased songs.
At the time of the release of this album, nineteen years have passed since Montalbano’s television adventure came to life. Throughout this time, as the films based on the novels and short stories took shape one after another, the musical scores that constituted and still constitute the emotional sounding board to the plots whether tragic or grotesque or the moral and sentimental conflicts that Camilleri and the director Sironi were putting in the field.
“The Montalbano films, with their particular style, have always happily inspired me by allowing me a dramaturgical structure, musically speaking, often robust and broad that has imprinted the music with a free and articulate breath, which is rare for a TV product. I am presenting here, for the first time, this symphonic suite, which brings together the musical work of these long years, the most representative work created for our Commissario Montalbano and for that compelling world of his concocted by Andrea Camilleri,” explains Franco Piersanti.
