SOFIA NAPPI/KOMOCO
Pupo
Italian premiere
Just days after its debut, Sofia Nappi 's new creation for the seven dancers of her Komoco company lands its Italian premiere at the Equilibrio Festival. "Pupo" is a show created to celebrate 140 years since the first publication of Pinocchio but eschews any didactic narrative to investigate the puppet in its archetypal dimension, psychological facets and social settings that show us how society systematically defines our lives. Trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Sofia Nappi then forged her own aesthetic figure on the influence of Hofesh Shechter and Ohad Naharin, embarking on a dazzling international career that will soon see her working as a guest choreographer with companies such as Nederlands Dans Theater 2 and Göteborg Opera.
