Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós returns to Roma Summer Fest for two dates in Sala Santa Cecilia with Piemme Project Ensemble. An event where their music will meet a 41-piece orchestra, promising a solemn and transcendental experience, in which they will perform songs from their latest album "ÁTTA" as well as revisiting their classics. The shows will be the last chance for fans to witness this orchestral performance by Sigur Rós, making these dates another important milestone in their career. 2025 will continue to be a special year for the band, with the 20th anniversary of their seminal album "Takk." There are few bands that go through the hubbub and distractions of the world to bring an elemental and pure truth or feeling like Sigur Rós, who made a surprise return in 2023 with their most intimate and emotionally direct album yet, "ÁTTA." The new tour comes on the heels of a fruitful era for the band's fans. At the beginning of the new decade, the band dug deep into their archives to release long-awaited works. They first released "Odin's Raven Magic" (2020), an orchestral album originally made nearly two decades earlier, and later reissued "( )" for its 2-20th anniversary in 2022. "ÁTTA" (2023), their first collection of unreleased material in nearly a decade, is heavily orchestration-oriented, with contributions from the London Contemporary Orchestra. With nearly ten million albums sold, Sigur Rós is one of the most ambitious and acclaimed bands of recent times, whose new artistic endeavors only point to a broad and exciting future. Sigur Rós lead fans on a journey of introspection, turning their music into a spiritual experience and creating a true cult following. While some bands bind followers to them with a story, their celestial, stellar sounds and blend of Icelandic and Vonlenska (their non-linguistic vocals) bind the listener directly to the heart and soul in the most primal way. Even for Sigur Rós themselves, at 29 years and eight albums into their career, this is a concept that few would have expected would become the universal phenomenon it has been.
