In his long existence Ferruccio Parri traversed much of the Italian twentieth century. For him, one of the leaders of the Resistance under the pseudonym "Commander Maurice," freedom was never an abstract concept but a tremendously concrete matter of dignity and justice. And it was precisely so that his and others' freedom would not be obliterated that he spoke out against fascism - paying the high price of imprisonment and confinement.
