The Fondazione Musica per Roma brings to the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone the photographic exhibition "The Color of Silence," signed by Carlo Verdone, from an idea by Elisabetta Sgarbi. It is a fascinating journey through images taken over the years by Verdone himself, depicting clouds, sunrises and sunsets, photographs he calls "prayers without words." The result of a private passion of Carlo Verdone's, his photographs were born as a liberating escape from work: the result of a deep passion for the sky, a natural element that has always exerted an irresistible attraction on him, while arousing a sense of disquiet. The images tell of the poetic beauty of celestial colors, but also their ominous gloom. The inspiration that drives Verdone comes from both pictorial art, from the works of futurist and pointillist Luigi Russolo to masters such as Tiepolo, Monet, Turner, and Constable, which urge him to point his lens upward, and from music, particularly the electronic instrumental compositions of Brian Eno, Philip Glass, David Sylvian, and Robert Fripp. Sounds that bring him back to the contemplation and silent awe of the heavens. "Those who had been under the illusion that they were seeing "only" landscapes may marvel at the fact that Carlo Verdone is recounting his innermost states of mind, illustrating them not with words but with the accidental, undulating, iridescent forms of nature. It seems to me that he is composing his own musical autobiography in pictures. Like a gallery of preludes, fantasies and impromptus." .
