A physicist, he has been involved in computing and networks for more than 30 years. He is deputy director and chief technical officer of GARR, where he coordinates the Infrastructure department. An expert in optical, packet and transmission networks, he now coordinates the GARR-T (Terabit) project, the new national network infrastructure for universities and research. Internationally, he was part of the team of experts who designed the current European GÉANT backbone.
