A seismologist for more than 30 years, he is Research Director National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology INGV, Scientific Coordinator of the PNRR-MEET project. He was director of the National Earthquake Center and a member of the INGV Board of Directors. He proposed and implemented the GNSS National Integrated Network, a national infrastructure for active deformation in Italy.
